The union is a part of the Na onal Olympic and Sports Associa on (ISI) and acts as a connec on between the City of Reykjavik and sports clubs. The union's goal is the for fica on and development of sports in Reykjavik. It is the country's largest district associa on with approximately 76 sports clubs and approximately 41.000 registered members. REYKJAVIK SPORTS UNION The Sport and Leisure Department operates six swimming pools, sport halls, the youth centre, a service centre, two ski slopes in Blá öll and Skálafell mountains, district-based ski slopes, the Reykjavík Family Park and Zoo in Laugardalur valley, summer ac vi es for children in the sailing club at Nauthólsvík and in Reykjavik Family Park and Zoo.
